A woman called Professor Dweck, who spent the last 20 years researching whether your mindset had anything to do with how successful you were, came across a theory she made her own. Of course the theory is anyone’s theory, in fact, if you only put it to the test. In any event she came to the conclusion that there are two mindsets, the fixed mindset and the growth mindset.

At times the two — the conscious and the non conscious — work side by side with one another; at times they go through stretches of opposition and resistance, either because they don’t hear each other, understand or want to listen. At those times there is no effective collaboration, each part wanting different things. You the rider will never achieve full control over the whale, and neither will you ever completely understand it.
